Everybody has a story! Learn how to find your story and tell it using digital storytelling techniques during this intergenerational workshop for the LGBTQ community.
The Denver Public Library has partnered with StoryCenter to provide this opportunity for LGBTQ teens and older adults to share experiences, talents, and inspirations. Studies show that connections between younger and older generations lead to understanding and mutual respect that benefit individuals as well as communities.
StoryCenter facilitators will guide participants through a collaborative creative process using images, music, and voice narration to make their stories into short videos. You do not need tech skills or previous experience to participate. If you do not have access to devices or the Internet, we can provide those for you.
You will have the chance to reflect on meaningful past experiences, build relationships in a creative community, engage in fun activities to learn new skills, and craft your story. You also get the option of having your story archived by the library to document LGBTQ lives in Colorado.
Check out these examples of LGBTQ digital stories:
Jalen Coleman (he/him) - I'm just a guy
Lee Graham - Twirling Goddess
John Holt - Awareness
Kate Burns (she/they) - The Good Fight
