Weekend Travel, Crafts, and Nutrition

Want to travel to Guatemala, create a craft, or learn about how nutrition can affect AD/HD? Join us for a Fresh City Life My Branch program this weekend!

Start your weekend off at Bear Valley on Friday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m. with a virtual trip to Guatemala by Chicken Bus. Local librarian Anna Winkel recounts her time in Guatemala in 2008-9 and will share slides and stories covering the old capital city of Antigua, the shores of Lago Atitlan, and the mountains of Alta Verapaz.

Have you read The Art of Racing in the Rain, this year's One Book, One Denver yet? Whether you've read the book or not, you're welcome at Schlessman on Saturday September 24 at 10:00 a.m. for Canine Creations. Celebrate the book's narrator Enzo with a craft made just for your favorite furry pal, and something for you, too! We can chat about the book while we craft!

Already thinking about holiday gifts? Join Sylvia Montoya for Knit Gifts for the Holidays on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Smiley Branch. She'll cover choosing patterns, picking the right needles and yarn, and accessories. There will be finished items to look at and gather ideas from, and a free scarf pattern to take home. Bring some super bulky yarn and size #19 needles to get started on your fabulous scarf!

If you're not a knitter, how about this Hand Sewn Felt Bunny? Create this adorable critter at Ross Cherry Creek on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The simple stitches used are perfect for beginners or experienced sewers! All materials provided. There are a few spaces left, register today: 720-865-0120 or fclmybranch@denverlibrary.org.

Do you know one of the 22 million children in this country with AD/HD? Want to find out how Nutrition Therapy can help? Join us at Ross Cherry Creek on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and learn how changes in dietary habits can increase concentration, reduce behavioral outbursts, and improve academic performance.

And don't forget Mindy Sink talking about her book Walking Denver on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Schlessman!

Have a great weekend!
