Take Me Out to the Ball Game Section of the Library

Do you find baseball games a little slow? If you're like me, a game can seem to go on forever, and don't even get me started on extra innings. Too bad they're not all like this:

Instead, take a good book along.

These titles (suggested by former DPL librarian Jon Flanagan), should cover all the bases:

The New Bill James Historical Baseball Atlas

The Boys of Summer (audio book)

Eight Men Out: the Black Sox and the 1919 World Series

The Bronx Zoo

The Natural (audio eBook)

Bang the Drum Slowly

Summer of '49

Baseball movies

Bull Durham

Field of Dreams

Major League

The Sandlot

The Bad News Bears

A League of Their Own

The Pride of the Yankees

Another great baseball book is Michael Chabon's YA fantasy Summerland. How often does a baseball game determine the fate of the world? A great family read, too!

Thanks, Becker. I see that Summerland is available on audio - great for a road trip!
