Being Elmo

Once upon a time, Tickle Me Elmo had adults standing in line. The new documentary about Kevin Clash and Elmo will explain why and how they became the face and voice of Love.

Kevin Clash developed a "Muppet mindset" watching hours of Sesame Street and making puppets as a child. He first shared his story in his book, My Life as a Furry Red Monster: What Being Elmo Has Taught Me About Life, Love, and Laughing Out Loud. Now film fans are eagerly anticipating the new documentary Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey which won the Sundance Special Jury Prize and is in limited release. You can catch the film at the Denver Film Society starting November 16 and at the Boedecker Theater in Boulder starting November 23.

Need an Elmo fix while waiting for the DVD to be released? The Library has several favorites offering loads of facetime with Elmo:
Learning Letters with Elmo (he wants to change his name to Jelmo!)
CinderElmo (must see!)
Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland
Elmo's Magic Cookbook
Elmo's Music Magic

I also like the Elmo's World series.
Topics in this series includes: Food, Water & Exercise!, Let's Play Music, Singing, Drawing & More!, Flowers, Bananas & More!, Penguins & Animal Friends, Opposites, and Springtime Fun!

Don't forget...Elmo loves YOU!

My Life as a Furry Red Monster is a great book. Fun insight into Sesame Street and how Elmo came about.
