If your wish list for December includes getting out amongst 'em and enjoying some of the season -- we've got you covered!
Celebrating the best of the holiday season, as well as commemorating the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, our golden girls, Reveille 3, are hosting their annual Christmas concert and cookie party here at the Denver Public Library.
Recently showcased on the front page of the LifeSTYLE section of the Denver Post, Reveille 3 recreates the sounds of wartime big band music. Their harmonies are spot on and they bring a unique, contemporary feel to American Songbook, while paying tribute to our servicemen and women around the world. Their show is titled Letters From Home and features classic Andrews Sisters covers, military costumes and actual letters to and from GIs in WWII. Our golden girls will also be serving you holiday cookies after the concert, just like a USO canteen. Don't miss this once a year concert - Saturday, December 3, 2 p.m. in Central Library's B2 Conference Center.
Fresh City Life is hosting their annual Open House and Stash Party on Saturday, too. From 1-5 p.m., you can help us raise a glass and toast a great year of fun and stylish events and workshops, do a little shopping (everything in the lounge will be discounted for the Open House), and drop off any craft, art or fiber supplies that you have no use for but still have good in them. Select from other people's donations to add to your stash at home. Whatever isn't claimed at the end of the day, we will donate to worthy cause like Salvation Army or Goodwill.
And to ring out the year, and ring in the new, we've got one last special treat for you: the Castle Rock Community Ringers are presenting their holiday selections on handbells! I'm a fan of bell choirs from my childhood; there was always a bell choir in my family's church. And their concerts were never as sweet as the winter performances. Enjoy the warmth of the season at this special concert! Saturday, December 10, 2 p.m. in Central Library's Schlessman Hall.
