Haute fashion: Circus Sideshow

Adorned with cape, with tricorn, saintly soul singing in librarian tones an enameled song that coolly celebrates her chewing-gum enthusiasms. - Truman Capote

Hurry! Hurry! Step right up!

Yesterday a friend sent me a blog post about the trends in fashion and home decor titled Circus Maximus. Our end-of-the-year spectacle, Frock Out: Sideshow, will be en pointe with current design influences.  This Project Runway-style competition will feature some of Denver's best independent fashion designers and a little bit of P.T. Barnum thrown into the mix.

Here's our recipe for some good old-fashioned midway fun: take twelve ingenious designers who are determined that you’ll remember their name, add in Denver’s creative impresaria, Tran Wills – throw in great music, glam lighting, mix it up with special guest performers, burlesquers and curiosities and you’ve got the ingredients for a spectacle. Toss in our special guest, Project Runway's current design darling -- Mondo Guerra -- and the Sideshow becomes the main attraction! Fresh City Life presents this wildly popular designers’ showcase that was standing room only on its first outing. This season’s hottest ticket in town – a chance to support local designers and adult cultural programming at the Denver Public Library.  Purchase your tickets online at dplfriends.org – for additional info email friends@denverlibrary.org or phone 720.865.2051
