Happy Birthday Ursula Le Guin!

Ursula K. Le Guin was born on this date in 1929. Le Guin continues to revolutionize the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres and has won Nebula, Hugo and National Book Awards, among others. Her Earthsea series is one of my all-time favorites.

In addition to writing many award winning books for adults and teens, Le Guin is also renowned for her books for children under 10.

This prolific writer also wrote a book to help other writers find their unique voice, Steering the Craft: Exercises and Discussions on Story Writing for the Lone Navigator or the Mutinous Crew published in 1998. Le Guin also wrote a "mental biography" entitled Dancing at the Edge of the World: Thoughts on Words, Women, Places.

Master of the written word, she has also written several volumes of poetry.
