Library Card Database Clean Up

In an effort to clean up our patron database, library cards were recently purged for those who had not checked out materials in several years. Unfortunately, our current system does not count online transactions such as eMedia checkouts or database use. If your card is no longer recognized - the error message is "Can't find that ID" - you will need to register for a new library card.
Register online to receive a temporary library card number, which will allow access to library databases. Visit any Denver Public Library within 28 days to complete the registration and pick up your new permanent library card.

A permanent library card is required to use eBooks, audio eBooks and eFlicks. If you have eMedia holds or need to download titles you have already checked out, please notify Technical Assistance of your new card number, the email address where you receive your hold notices and (if you know it) your old library card number so we can transfer your account to your new card.

I love the new DPL webpage. I have a question, however. When first get on the webpage and click on my account, it takes me to the old account set up, not the new. Why is this and is there something I can do to fix it. Thanks.


Hi Kimberly, I'm glad you like the new site. We are linking to the old My Account while the catalog vendor works to re-implement some of the functionality that was lost. You can read more about it here. From the catalog itself you can choose to use the new or old My Account options from the links at the top.


I don't mind that it takes me back to the old account, but once there I can't then get back to the catalog or other new parts. For me, it requires getting out & reentering the site. I like the old account where it tells me what number on the hold list I am, and how many copies of the book there are. Please include that in the new site!


Hi Nancy, thanks for your comment. We understand that customers are having to use a few workarounds with the new and old My Account functionality. We thank you for your patience while we work on this. Our ultimate goal is to incorporate all of the features customers want and need in one interface.


You can still view the catalog from a new window. Just hit File, and then New Window.


Quick update: Now when you click the exit button (upper right corner of the page) in the old My Account you will return to the Denver Public Library home page. From there you can quickly return to the catalog by typing your keywords into the search box at the top or by clicking the catalog link in the top navigation. Hope this helps!

I can not log into my eAccount :( This is the message I get:
Sign In Error

We're sorry, but the specified library patron account information is not valid.

Details: (2) Invalid Library Card. Not a valid Denver Public Library card.

I'm sorry you're having trouble! Please try logging in again using the following format: The letter D, followed by the number 0 (zero), followed by the eight additional numbers in your account number. More help can be found on our Technical Assistance page.
