Our Anti-Valentine's Day Parties are legendary. From zombie love stories to a Xanadu disco inferno, we've hosted an Anti-Valentine's Day Party that always covers the ridiculous and the sublime. This year, we are serving love realness with a screening of Muriel’s Wedding that will be punctuated with an actual wedding ceremony! We’re seeking happy couples who would like to get married at this event! Come and witness the fun at this special afternoon. The library is providing the officiant, witnesses and reception for the cheapest, most fun and funny wedding ever.
If all the hearts and flowers and sugary confections leave you feeling a bit underwhelmed, Fresh City Life offers an alternative: our Anti-Valentine’s Day Heartburn Party. And this year, for fun, we've added in zombies.
When we talked to our friends at Mile High Cinema and told them that we wanted to do something extra special for our Anti-Valentine's Day party this year, they didn't hesitate when they told us they had the perfect film for us: a new entry in the current love affair with zombies, Pontypool. Hope you can join us for this presentation of a newly-minted classic.
Not a fan of Valentine's Day? If the traditional romance films aren't your cup of tea this time of year, consider the line written by Shakespeare from A Midsummer Night's Dream, "The course of true love never did run smooth." While these films feature the pain of heartbreak and fall out from bad break-ups, they still manage to celebrate friendship and the (eventually) fruitful pursuit of true love.
