In the spirit of Fresh City Life, new events debut this year!
Denverites maybe never had it so good. Fresh City Life is offering up new and retooled events for you this year. In successive posts, I'll let you in on some of the cool stuff that is booked and some of the things that are in the works -- but not fully-baked (just yet).
Local author Jacqueline St. Joan will be at the Schlessman Family Branch on Sunday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. to discuss her novel My Sisters Made of Light.
In her novel, St. Joan draws from her extensive travels and research to share with readers a compelling portrait of the compelling, heartbreaking, and sometimes terrifying lives of the women and men in the social, political, and religious maze that is Pakistan. St. Joan is an award-winning poet, travel writer, teacher, and lawyer. She has worked as a county judge, a law professor, and a child and human rights advocate. My Sisters Made of Light is her first novel.
Whether you're interested in crafts, safe driving, helping others by donating blood, or learning how you can keep chickens in your yard, Fresh City Life My Branch has something for you this week!
There are several options for you crafty folks. On Tuesday, March 1 at 10 a.m., the Bear Valley Branch will be hosting Sit 'n Knit, a group sure to please any fiber maven. Both experienced knitters and beginners are welcome to share their knowledge and learn something new. Fiber hosts are Kathy Orth and Charlotte Updike.
Want to have fresh lettuce all year round? Learn how on Saturday, February 26, 11 a.m. at the Ross-Univeristy Hills Branch.
Denver Master Gardener Barbara Masoner will share how she grows food throughout the year. Learn how to build a cold frame in your own yard. It's cheap, it's easy, and it provides fresh greens even during the winter!
