Meet Me Tonight in Atlantic City

The Essential Bruce Springsteen album cover

According to the New York Times, this week marks the 43rd anniversary of Bruce Springsteen's debut album, "Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J." I might have to blast some Springsteen on my way home tonight to honor the anniversary. I'll roll down the window and let the wind blow back my hair, obviously. ("Thunder Road." Born to Run. 1975.)

State Flag or Country Flag?

Flags 1

I'm a big fan of flags. Sometimes I think we should all have our own flag.

Flags have been in the news lately and I've found myself looking at various state flags and paying attention to them. One thing I noticed was how few I could actually pick out or identify on my own. The Western History/Genealogy department also wrote a great blog post about the history of the Colorado state flag.

Flag of Chile

When I tuned in to the rescue of the Chilean miners, I wondered why the Texas flag was everywhere. It didn't take me long to realize that it was the flag of Chile. The flag of Chile is very similar to the Texas flag. CultureGrams helped me see that I wasn't completely off my rocker.

CultureGrams is a great resource to learn about countries of the world and also about the states of our Union (and, for that matter, the provinces of Canada.)

Learn more about Chile. See the flag and maps, listen to the national anthem and read about the history, the people, the customs, the lifestyle and even a few recipes that those miners can enjoy again now that they're back above ground.
