The DPL Community Engagement team looks for opportunities for people to connect with the library and with each other. This special daylong event is designed for participants to better understand the journey of others in our community. Empathy is one of our best tools for building stronger ties to each other -- and creating healthy, thriving communities with a citizenry that understands and helps each other. Through various experiential components, Our House will encourage you to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. Please join us for:

Beat the Heat

Gather with your neighbors and enjoy an ice cold popsicle as you socialize and decorate the library plaza with creative works of chalk art.

Field Day After Hours

It's Field Day time! Kick off summer with us and enjoy water balloon games, capture the flag and minute to win it relays -- we'll also have video games on the big screen, as well as ice cream and grilled hot dogs. For grades 6-12.

Childcare Meet and Greet

Parents, babysitters, nannies and caregivers are invited to connect in a safe in-person environment. Childcare providers, please bring your references for the parents to contact. Parents, feel free to bring the kids to help you find the best candidates. The parties involved have not been prescreened. It is the sole responsibility of participants to do any necessary investigation.

Baby Play! with Amy Conrad

Amy Conrad, a pediatric occupational therapist, presents a developmental play session during her program with hands-on fine motor and sensory activities. Program is geared toward ages 6-23 months and their caregivers.

Please note, this event replaces the regularly scheduled Baby Storytime. This program is limited to 20 participants. Registration required (call 720-865-0260).
