Enjoy an 18-and-over show with Adam Cayton-Holland, recently honored as the 2014 Comic of the Year during the 2014 Denver Comedy Awards. You may have seen this Denver-based comedian during his monthly live comedy show and web series The Grawlix, on Conan or Comedy Central’s @midnight. Opening the show is Sam Tallent, the host of Film on the Rocks at Red Rocks Amphitheater. He would love to talk to you about Flannery O'Connor, Larry Brown or Camus.

Born 450 years ago in 1564, William Shakespeare is regarded by many as the greatest writer in the English language. Although he is most famous for his plays, he rose to fame in his life as a poet, writing 154 sonnets and two long narrative poems. Most of his plays were not published until after his death in 1616, leading some to question his authorship. Join Active Minds as we seek to understand Shakespeare’s life and connect his story to his plays and poems.

Reflecting on Roosevelt's presidency, his biographer commented that FDR "brought the United States through the Great Depression and World War II to a prosperous future. He lifted himself from a wheelchair to lift the nation from its knees." Join Active Minds as we look at the life and leadership of one of our nation's most admired presidents and examine how his legacy is currently viewed (for better or worse) through the lens of our recent challenges.

In 2012, Colorado voters approved Amendment 64, which legalized marijuana for recreational use. Now the Colorado Legislature is in the process of implementing this amendment to the state constitution. At the same time, marijuana use remains a violation of Federal law and those authorities are still weighing their options regarding this change in Colorado state law. Join Active Minds as we delve into the background of this unfolding story.

Active Minds: The Story of Beer

Active Minds will present the story of beer! We will discuss the history of beer and how it is made, as well as the rise of several great American brewers and beer families, the current trends of microbrews and craft beers and their strong Colorado connections. As a bonus we'll have a drawing for a gift certificate to Berkeley Untapped a local beer business with many quality taps on Tennyson Street.
