The story of chocolate is a "rich" tale indeed. It involves aristocracy and slavery, innovation and coincidence. Pivotal roles were played by both Christopher Columbus and Hernando Cortéz. Join Active Minds as we describe how extremely bitter cacao beans are transformed into one of the world's most sought after flavors and tell chocolate stories such as the rise of the luxury chocolate industry in Switzerland and the origins of the Hershey company. Bonus: chocolate tasting at the end of class!
Mirror Image Arts' bullying prevention curriculum, "Your Voice Matters" is an interactive theatre based program committed to putting an end to bullying in every school. Our program gives students the tools to end bullying by utilizing Scholastic Problem-Solving methodology and critical thinking skills. We unlock student's natural empathetic abilities so they will make strong, compassionate choices in the moment. Students have the opportunity to use the time spent with the Mirror Image Arts team as a rehearsal for reality.
In collaboration with Jaipur Literature Festival at Boulder, Truth Be Told will offer a special slam at Denver Public Library. Audience members will be
invited to put their names in a hat with the hopes of being selected to perform five- minute personal stories, which must be true and told by heart.
Stories will be judged by fellow audience members. Between stories, performing artists Nina Rolle and Johanna Walker will perform song medleys,
creating a one-of-a-kind event that is equal parts story hour, competition and cabaret.
Stories on Stage, in partnership with Jaipur Literature Festival at Boulder, is pleased to perform theatrical readings from two participating authors, Margaret Coel and Lisa Jones. Well-known professional actors Sam Gregory and Allison Watrous will perform stories from Watching Eagles Soar and Broken: A Love Story.
