Four talented chefs, four spectacular, moist and delicious breads -- but only one will be crowned the winner. 

 Fresh City Life is bringing together food entrepreneurs and chefs for Battle Quick Bread – including Ellen Daehnick of Helliemae’s Salt Caramels. Though Ellen has a legion of fans who love her caramel sauces and candies, she jumped at the chance to compete for the bragging rights of Best Quick Bread. When asked about the competition, she said, “Look, I’ve got excellent recipes for quick breads with caramel in them, but maybe I’ll mix it up and do something chocolatey or with a touch of booze.

Be introduced to the basic methods of sitting, quieting the mind, focusing the breath, and finding stillness. Basic theory of Taoist meditation and the concepts of Jing, Qi, and Shen, and the three treasures of the human body will also be explored.

Hosted by MadWine Bar and Novo Coffee (13th and Acoma Plaza), you'll be treated to fun times and the chance to mingle with other old school gamers.

It's never too early to look ahead and plan your upcoming week. Whether you need to fix up your resume, learn some computer skills, or try your hand at knitting, there is plenty for you to enjoy at these Fresh City Life My Branch events!

Do you think you know Colorado History? Well learn about the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Colorado history at this great program, presented by the Fairmount Heritage Foundation. Hear stories that didn’t make it into the history books about Speer, Iliff, Lowry, Elitch, and others. This event is happening at the Ross-University Hills Branch on Thursday, August 25 at 6 p.m.
