Julie has been bringing Maggie and Evelyn, an adorable set of twins since they were only about 5 months old to bookbabies. I remember when they were in their stroller and Julie would put the blankets on the floor for them to sit while we sang songs and looked at board books. Now they are happily walking around during bookbabies and they love books. Maggie sometimes even walks up to me and takes the book that I am using. She will point to the book and tell me something in her own baby language and take the book.
As the nights get longer and the days get shorter kids will be inside for longer periods of time. It is time to cuddle up and read some good stories.
Some of my favorite books to read aloud are about cats and kittens. Jane Cabrera author of the book Cat’s Colors has been writing and illustrating books for over 12 years.Cat’s Colors and Kitty’s Cuddles are two of the 40 books that Jane Cabrera has written which are about Cats.
Teal Wall, a nine year old girl, is a regular customer at the Ross-University Hills Branch Library. She enjoyed doing the crafts and participating in Summer Reading 2012.
After finishing her monogram art craft she described in her own words what reading means to her:
"Reading is going to new places and having adventures! Also, going to the library and doing fun activities!”
Some of her favorite books to read are the Dear America series.
Being a single mother or father can be very overwhelming!
There are so many responsibilities involved with being a parent and being single can certainly make it difficult. Coping with the idea of divorce for you and your children can make your head spin hundred degrees. The questions arise as to who will get to keep the children which days and which holidays. If the father or mother is not involved in the child's life it creates problems because children start to ask questions.
Different feelings arise and single parents might feel like they don't have the answers to their children's questions. Do you ever feel like there is nobody to help you out? Do you feel like no one understands what you are going through? Do you need help finding childcare for your children?
