One of the summer's hottest books was Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. That title still has a hefty holds list, but if you're looking for other suspenseful reads/studies in character for now, check out one of these:
Before I Go to Sleep, S.J. Watson
Still Missing, Chevy Stevens
Drowned, Therese Bohman
Playing Dead, Julia Heaberlin
The Lifeboat, Charlotte Rogan
So Much Pretty, Cara Hoffman
Heartbroken, Lisa Unger
Afterwards, Rosamund Lupton
Tell No One, Harlan Coben
Dismantled, Jennifer McMahon
The Breaker, Minette Walters
Die for You, Lisa Unger
Dolores Claiborne, Stephen King
Keeper of the Keys, Perri O'Shaughnessy
Swimsuit, James Patterson
Of course, there are Flynn's other titles (which also have lists, but shorter ones than for Gone Girl!):
Other authors that you might enjoy if you enjoy Flynn's books include:
What other psychological suspense fiction has thrilled you?
nice, thanks for the suggestions, this was like the sleeper hit of the summer, every time i tried to place a hold the list was longer and longer!
I just finished reading "Catch Me" by Lisa Gardner. I loved the many points of view, and the seemingly unrelated plots and how they all pulled together, including the eerily contemporary internet predator story line. Highly recommended.
Just finished Gone Girl and liked it, but think these are even better --
A Place of Execution -- Val McDermid
What the Dead Know -- Laura Lippman
Really enjoying Tana French's books this summer. Gone Girl good, too.
