Pa' todos: The 2012 Latin GRAMMYs

I have no patience for TV awards shows, but I love the Latin GRAMMYs! And this year's performances and winners were no exception. Last night's event (November 15) showcased the fantastic variety that is Latin music and the winners reflected that diversity, too. We're fortunate to have the music of many of the winning artists and albums available for checkout in the Library.

Juanes won Album of the Year and Best Long Form Music Video for MTV Unplugged, his collaboration with Spanish composer Joaquín Sabines. Jesse & Joy won in multiple categories--Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album and Best Short Form Music Video.

Check out these winners:

I'm so happy that Jesse & Joy finally got the recognition they deserve. One of their best Albums is "Esta es Mi Vida" released in 2007. Songs like "Dulce Melodia", "Espacio Sideral" and "LLegaste Tu" just to mention a few.

I usually don't watch to Awards because in my opinion, Univision usually selects the same artists every year. (Juanes, Don Omar, Luis Enrique, Alejandro Sanz, Juan Luis Guerra, Pepe Aguilar...etc).

I agree with you that it was so nice to see an under-recognized performer get some much-deserved honors. There is such amazing music coming from all over Spain, Latin America and the U.S. and the Latin Grammys certainly don't do that justice, but it was still wonderful to see Jesse & Joy win so much and to see an awards show that represents a variety of genres within the huge category that is Latin music.

I love the Latin Grammy's!

Thanks for sharing your comments. There is such great Latin music out there and the Latin Grammy Awards Show gets at least some of it into more households!
