The Mount Rushmore of Rap

Who would be on your Mount Rushmore of rappers?

This was really hard for me! There have been so many talented rappers throughout the years that it makes it almost impossible to choose only four. But, personally, I have to go with Tupac, Biggie, Dr. Dre, and Eminem. To me, these four artists revolutionized rap, molded the genre, and are nothing short of amazing. Their lyrics, rhymes, beats, hooks, and bass are guaranteed to suck you in, have you nodding your head and start vibing.

Another reason I chose them to be on my Mount Rushmore of rappers is because we can all relate to them one way or another. We can feel their emotions and visualize in our minds exactly what they're talking about.

Tupac, Biggie, Dr. Dre, and Eminem all broke so many records and touched the lives of millions through their music. Surprisingly, any controversy surrounding them never seemed to faze them: when the lights were the brightest, they performed at the highest level, and whatever personal or legal problems they had only added fuel to their fires. I could go on and on about why these four are at the top of my list, but what can I say that hasn't already been said?

In my opinion, I truly believe that these four are the best rappers/emcees in history. I know I might catch a lot of flack for leaving out rappers/emcees like Ice cube, Jay-Z, Nas, Krs-One, and Rakim, and also because Dr. Dre has only released a couple of albums and is mainly a producer, but that's ok. It's just my opinion.

I would like to know who's on your Mount Rushmore of rappers/emcees or who are the best rappers of all time and why.  Share below!

Biggie-- clever word play, larger than life presence, smooth delivery

Tupac- a rap poet, able to rap about everything from the hood to his mama and still have street cred

Big Daddy Kane- phenomenal lyricist and style trendsetter (think high top fades, velour suits and four finger rings)

Jay-z- say what you want about him but he has transcended rap and is a pop culture phenom...not a bad rapper too

Big Daddy Kane is one cool cat, I thought about him and his impact and no doubt that he make a great pick and Jay-Z is always talked about when it comes to the best of the best- great picks

Wow! You are obviously very young. I love three of the people you chose (never got into 2Pac) but am amazed you consider them the "most talented rappers over the years". Anyhow, I'll stop being an angry old guy and just say who I think the four greatest MCs of all-time are, who would deserve to be on a Rap Mount Rushmore.

Chuck D

I strongly considered them, that's why I included them in notable MCs I left out but, at the end of the day I had to go with those who made a impact on my life and who I believe are the best. Your Mount Rushmore is old school for sure and you can't go wrong with them, Krs-one has is one of the dopest Mc's to ever spit on the mike. Thanks Trevor Adams
