Branch Library Reopening Announcement

Dear Library Community,

A little under a year ago we made the difficult decision to close all of our locations to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There were so many unknowns about the virus at the time but we knew it was the best decision for the health and safety of our customers and staff.

Over the past twelve months, our team has come together to innovate and deliver library services and programs in new ways. While our buildings have been closed to the public, our staff has been in our locations working behind the scenes to provide access to our collection via curbside pick up, bridge the digital divide via providing outdoor laptop access, and conduct outreach to our community via book giveaways, passing out care kits, and so much more.

We have also been working to reopen our public spaces in a safe way knowing that the pandemic continues. While we are not out of the woods, we are delighted to announce that nine of our branch libraries will open to the public on Tuesday, March 9. The Bear Valley Branch Library, Ross-Cherry Creek Branch Library, Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales Branch Library, Green Valley Ranch Branch Library, Hampden Branch Library, Sam Gary Branch Library, Ross-University Hills Branch Library, Valdez-Perry Branch Library, and Westwood Branch Library will all open to the public during this first phase of our reopening plans. For more about hours and what to expect, visit the COVID-19 information and updates page.

Our 2021 commitments to the community include providing access to our collection, providing technology access, and providing access to our public spaces. We’re pleased to make this step toward fulfilling our community commitments and assist our community in recovering from the pandemic while keeping safety top of mind.

We have learned a lot over the past year and are proud of the resilience of our staff and community. Many of the innovations made during our public closure will be here to stay as life returns to normal like curbside service, laptop checkouts and virtual programming and events.

Welcome back to your library, we are excited to see you.

Sincerely,
Michelle Jeske
City Librarian
