We’re adding more hours at Hampden and Hadley Branch Libraries

What's better than more hours of daylight with the switch to Daylight Saving time? Even more hours to visit the Hampden and Hadley Branch Libraries! Beginning April 29, the branches will each add hours to better serve customers in the Southeast and Southwest parts of town.

The Hampden Branch Library, located at 9755 E. Girard Ave., will increase from 48 to 52 hours per week to provide services, programs and computer access to a greater number of Southeast Denver residents. The branch will now be open on Sundays, giving customers seven-days-a-week access to the branch.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to offer services all week long," said Senior Librarian Matt Bolen. "We know that customers have wanted Sunday hours for a long time and we're thrilled to be able to provide it now."

The Hampden Branch serves a population of 34,046 residents in Southeast Denver, including the neighborhoods of Hampden, Kennedy, Southmoor Park, and Hampden South. The closest branch is 4.2 miles away. The branch recently added a new ideaLAB makerspace, which features state-of-the-art computers, software, equipment and resources to make just about anything you can imagine. Check the library's website for lab hours.

The Hadley Branch Library, located at 1890 S. Grove St., will offer additional hours on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The additional hours come just after a major renovation of the branch, which included a complete overhaul of all spaces and the addition of a new ideaLAB makerspace.

"We've had so many people wanting to come in and use the newly-renovated spaces. Now we can offer even more evening hours for residents to stop in, check out the renovations and enjoy all of our services," said Hong Ha, senior librarian.

The Hadley Branch serves a population of 35,012 residents, including the neighborhoods of Mar Lee, Harvey Park, College View/South Platte, Hurby Hill and Overland. The closest branch is 2.9 miles away.

Branch service hours are based on physical capabilities, dispersing access geographically and neighborhood population data. Hours at the Hampden and Hadley Branch Libraries were adjusted to be in alignment with similar size branch libraries offering access to collections, services, technology and programs 52 hours a week.
