Online Catalog Upgrade - Check out what's new!

Beginning this morning, Sunday, January 21, you may notice some changes to our online catalog. We've upgraded, and while much of the catalog will feel familiar, we're excited to share some new features with you.

Exciting new features:

  1. Responsive Design
In addition to a fresh look, the catalog is now responsive. That means it will resize automatically to fit whatever device you are using (phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer). All the features of the full catalog will be available regardless of your device size, no need to use a separate mobile site on smaller screens.

  2. Limit by Availability and Location
To see items available right now, perform your search, then select the "Available Now" checkbox (located in the left column on larger screens and below search results on smaller screens) to see items that are currently on the shelf.

To see items currently available at your preferred library location(s), perform your search, then select both the "Available Now" checkbox and, directly below, the checkbox next to your location(s).

Keep in mind that if you use the "Location" checkbox without the "Available Now" checkbox not all items shown may be currently available on the shelf.

  3. Bulk Holds
Want to place multiple holds at once? You can do this by creating a list.

If you are not already signed in: Perform your search and press the "Add to My List" button for each item you are interested in. This will create a "Working List" of items. Once you are ready, press the "Show list details..." link (located in the left column on larger screens and below search results on smaller screens). Sign in to your account and once you are back on your list page, use the checkbox at the top of the list to select all items then press the "Place Request" button.

If you are signed in: Perform your search and press the "Add to My List" button. From the options, select "Working List" (for a temporary list that will be deleted once you sign out), one of your existing lists, or create a new list (if you want to save it for future use). Add additional items to your list. Once you are ready, press the "Show list details..." link, use the checkbox at the top of the list to select all items then press the "Place Request" button.

From there you will be able to select your pickup location. If there are any issues with placing your holds (for example: item is for in-library use only, or you have reached your holds limit), you will be notified on the following screen. Press the "Confirm" button to place your holds.

eBooks and Other Downloads

The Denver Public Library now has several different resources for eBooks, Audio eBooks and Digital Magazines. There are a few ways to access these materials:

When searching the catalog you will see formats like "eBook," "Audio eBook," and "eMagazine." Look for this information in the "Call Number" field or by icon (all the downloadable items will include an icon with an "e"). To access these items, look for the "Web Site: Available online" link that will take you to the appropriate website.

You can also go directly to the appropriate website by pressing the "Downloads" link located at the top and bottom of every screen, then selecting one of the following:

  • OverDrive (eBooks, Audio eBooks and Videos)
  • RBdigital (Audio eBooks)
  • RBdigital (Digital Magazines)
  • Flipster (Digital Magazines)
  • More

Accessibility

This new version of the catalog does not currently meet our accessibility standards. We are keeping our mobile catalog site available for use until the full catalog meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. You can access this version of the catalog by pressing the "Accessible Site" link located at the top and bottom of every screen.

More information about using the catalog can be found by using the Help menu located at the top and bottom of each screen. Need more help? Ask Us!

Looking good! I especially like being able to order a book by putting in the title and author - so much quicker and easier! Thank you!

Great new features! I'd love to also be able to put multiple holds on the same book for my book club.

Thanks for your feedback! Good suggestion. If that feature becomes available, we'll be sure to let you know.

Love the accessibility! Though the font is tad bit faint. Wish it were darker shade of blue - sometimes it's hard to see.
