Chef Shellie Kark has created delightful cooking presentations for Denver Public Library for nearly 10 years. Often times they were themed demonstrations around great authors, films about food and even one very memorable series based on Marlene Dietrich! Over the years, our customers learned lots of helpful techniques, gained useful information about food and culinary history -- and they always walked away with delicious samples and recipes to boot.
After a two year hiatus, she's back! Denver Public Library will be hosting Chef Shellie this summer with culinary demos in the RiNo neighborhood. Each of the four consecutive demos will highlight a book about food. The first two are fiction and the next two draw from Shellie's current list of favorite cookbooks.
Here's a tease for the first two demos; hope to see you there.
The Love Goddess’ Cooking School: Culinary Demo with Chef Shellie

Chef Shellie is taking some time away from her professorship at Johnson & Wales University, College of Culinary Arts, to show us some great kitchen tips and recipes for the summer. Drawing inspiration from the delightful novel, The Love Goddess’ Cooking School by Melissa Senate, Shellie will share recipes and samples that echo the Italian specialties Senate lovingly describes in her book. Enjoy learning to make bruschetta with tomatoes and fresh ricotta as well as a spring risotto. Mangia!
