The 24th Colorado Teen Literature Conference will be at the Tivoli, on the Auraria Campus on Saturday, March 31. The conference opens with Todd Mitchell, the author of The Traitor King and The Secret to Lying.
The conference features various classes and workshops presented by experts who specialize in teen literature and working with teens. One of the highlights of the conference is attending the luncheon, featuring keynote author Maggie Stiefvater, who wrote The Scorpio Races and The Wolves of Mercy Falls Trilogy. The conference closes with both Todd Mitchell and Maggie Stiefvater answering questions from a teen panel. The conference is for anyone who has a passion for reading teen literature and working with teens.
The conference also holds special sessions just for teens. The first session features local authors of teen literature such as: Amy Kathleen Ryan, who wrote Glow, Brenna Yovanoff, author of The Space Between and The Replacement, Denise Vega who wrote Click Here (to find out how i survived seventh grade) and Access Denied (and other eighth grade error messages), Dom Testa, the author of the Galahad Series, and Terri Clark who contributed to The Girl Who Was On Fire. There is a special teens only session with authors Maggie Stiefvater and Todd Mitchell. You can also attend other sessions such as Book Clubs for the 21st century, How to know if you live in a dystopian novel, slam poetry workshops, and a writing workshop to combat writer's block. The featured authors will also be signing books throughout the day.
To register you can do so on-site at the Tivoli. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. It costs $65 for adults and $30 for students. The conference ends with book signings by the authors at 4 p.m.
