Arya Stark's Reading List

*SPOILER FREE* If you love Arya Stark, here are 5 books that I am sure that she would enjoy reading, if she was able to find the time:

Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype by Clarissa Pinkola Estés

I'm listening to this on audiobook right now and the book is just as amazing as everyone has promised me that it would be for years, especially enhanced by Dr. Estés narration. Arya follows her instincts and embraces her wild nature, and Women Who Run with the Wolves is all about that. The audiobook is also only 2 discs, and I think that she would enjoy listening to this as she trained.

She-Wolves: The Women Who Ruled England Before Elizabeth by Helen Castor

If you like Antonia Fraser or Alison Weir's non-fiction historical perspectives, you might like Helen's Castor's exploration of the "she-wolves" Empress Matilda, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Isabella of France, Margaret of Anjou, and the Nine Days' Queen, Lady Jane Grey. Much like Arya enjoyed reading about the tales of the Warrior Queen Nymeria, I think she would be inspired by these true-life amazing leaders and warriors.

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Katsa was born with a special gift - a preternatural gift for killing. Full of death-defying adventure and a pretty sizzling romance, the first book in this trilogy is an extremely compelling read. I think Arya would see a lot of herself in Katsa and would enjoy reading about this young character's adventure to save her Seven Kingdoms without losing herself.

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

This graphic novel would appeal to the lighter side of Arya, the side that loves a funny prank on her sister. Lord Ballister Blackheart and Nimona's relationship reminds me a bit of Arya and The Hound's mentor/friendship as well. Full of dragons, science, mischief, and battle, Arya would find this to be a fun read.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Arya would connect with Children of Blood and Bone's Zélie, a heroic young woman who fights the monarchy to avenge her family and secure freedom for all. This epic story that emphasizes embracing the power within you would have Arya turning book pages while reading at Winterfell into the wee small hours of the night.

What books would you suggest for Arya Stark?

Maybe I should be embarrassed, but who is Arya Stark? Who and why would a person be interested in her reading list?
