Read Along with Your DAM Visit: Nature as Muse

Denver Public Library has recently partnered with the Denver Art Museum (DAM)our neighbor here in the Golden Triangle Creative Districtto come up with reading lists that aim to enrich visitors’ interactions with the museum’s featured art and exhibitions. While the DAM is using these lists in interactive art kits they’re sending to older adult communities in the Denver area, we at DPL can’t resist sharing our finds with you, too!

Did you have a chance to see the museum’s Claude Monet: The Truth of Nature exhibition last winter? If you missed it, one of the artist’s waterlily paintings is on view right now in the museum’s newly installed 19th-Century European and American art galleries. Check it out on the second floor of the Hamilton Building by reserving a timed general admission ticket today.

Whether you’ve seen the lilies in the flesh or not, if you have any familiarity with Monet’s work, you’ll know that his most celebrated pieces took nature as their muse—and this connection between the artist and his environment is what inspired our first list’s theme.

To further explore Monet, his paintings, and the possibility of nature as muse in your own life, take a look at the resources the library has compiled to complement your virtual or in-person visit:
