Chilling Reads for Hot Summer Days

Brrrr usually around this time of year we are shedding layers, cranking up the AC and chilling out by a pool, but spring has been unseasonably cold this year. That won't stop me from participating in one of my summertime traditions- reading chilling books during the hot summer nights.

Black Magick by Greg Rucka (Lazarus) and Nicola Scott. This chilling tale of a modern witch who is also a police officer does really great things with color usage. Quick read, chilling times!

Rolling in the Deep and Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant. Ok this horrifying exploration of the existence of mermaids nearly spent the night in my freezer, that's the only thing to do with scary books amiright!?!?

No Exit by Taylor Adams. This creepy thriller is a bit uneven but if you can suspend your disbelief that anyone would be so stooopid you can get swept away in this blizzardy fever dream of terror and anxiety!

The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell. You move to an isolated house and find behind a locked door a painted doll that looks eerily like you, would you stay there?!?! No, no you would not but Elsie does and so you get to read all about it! Brrrr

The Invited by Jennifer McMahon. In this super creepy thriller a couple moves to Vermont to rebuild their lives by building the house of their dreams, but apparently their dreams are nightmares! Gave me goosebumps!
