It's a new year, but one thing remains the same - Winter of Reading 2023 is on! And Denver Public Library is delighted to once again host Jim Mustich, author of 1000 Books to Read Before You Die, for an epic virtual Winter of Reading Battle of the Books on Friday, January 27, 6-7 p.m.
How does the Battle work? Five panelists have four minutes each to defend their choice of title to be added to the 1000 Books list. Last year’s winner, Colorado State Representative Leslie Herrod, got the win with her passionate nomination of Kali Fajardo-Anstine's Sabrina & Corina; our runner-up was author and educator David Heska Wanbli Weiden for his presentation of James Welch's Winter in the Blood, who returns for the 2023 panel. You, the audience, decide what book wins!
Our new literary gladiators are Westword staff writer Conor McCormick-Cavanagh, the co-executive director of Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition Julie Reiskin, local author Ausma Zehanat Khan, and the Denver Art Museum's curator of modern and contemporary art Rory Padeken.
All Battle titles are available for sale from The Bookies! Click here to order now.
We'll be using Zoom for the Battle - click here for more details and to register (so we can send you the Zoom link!) - this event is free and open to the public.
