Be a lean mean marketing machine

Be a lean mean marketing machine

Social networks aren't just about sharing what you had for breakfast and posting oh-so-cute pictures of your niece with jam on her face. They're a big deal. And they're also an excellent way to spread your message as a small business or organization.

Whether you're selling products, offering services, raising awareness or promoting an event, social networks like Facebook and Twitter can lend serious firepower to your marketing efforts. But using social networks to promote yourself takes more finesse than just punching in a random broadcast- you need to craft your message and build your brand. And once you've figured out how to use your words, you can link multiple online networks together creating a united online presence, reaching potentially thousands of people predisposed to liking you and listening to what you have to say. And that, my friends, is marketing gold.

This coming Friday, June 29th at 1:00p on Level 4, the CTC will be offering Marketing with Social Networks, a class for entrepreneurs, activist, promoters and curious folk on how to get the word out about yourself and your activities using sites like Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other free social media sites. And this time around we have a special treat: Brandi Shigley, local creator/inspiration/small business owner/fashion icon/thelistgoeson will be there to give a short talk about her thirteen year career of successfully marketing her products, services and ideas online, followed by a Q and A session where you can learn from a real live guru. You may like her so much you'll want to sign up for the full version of her workshop Do What You Love, Love What You Do, where she helps people find practical ways to pursue their passion- and be successful.

And in the mean time, hit up the library to start taking advantage of all the free marketing power social networks have to offer!

Excellent! I'm glad you got something out of it. I'm of the opinion that inspiration is equally as useful as information when it comes to starting a new project.
