If you’ve got pants that need hemmed, a bag that needs mending, or a craft project you have yet to assemble, you can use the library’s sewing machines in ideaLAB!
Fabric, thread, buttons, and all the notions you could need are available along with helpful staff who can guide you on your sewing journey.
There’s nothing more empowering than knowing that you can repair something that is broken or create something completely customized to you. Sewing is a foundational skill that all makers should master, and we want you to get started! If you’re in need of inspiration, check out some of the projects on Instructables.
All ages and all sewing skill levels are welcome during ideaLAB open lab. Visit the SM Energy ideaLAB at the Central Library, Floor 4: Mondays and Tuesdays 3-8 p.m., Wednesday and Friday 3-6 p.m., Thursdays 1-6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 1-5 p.m.
The ideaLAB staff have been practicing their sewing during the month of September, so when you stop in, ask them what they’re making!
This is so great!! Way to go, ideaLAB staff! And way to go, DPL!
Exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you for providing the space to do this. See you all soon!
Does the ideaLab need any more volunteers with sewing experience?
We could certainly use some more crafty hands! If you're interested in volunteering, we have openings at the ideaLAB at the Central Library as well as at the Montbello and Hampden Libraries. You can apply for volunteer positions online or call our volunteer office at 720-865-2043 if you have any questions.
Thanks for the interest!
