Wow, this is the best book I’ve "read" in a long time.  I guess I didn't really read it, I listened to the Audiobook on CD.
Quirky characters and a quirky plot create a very enjoyable read.  Bernadette is the mother of a teenage girl and the wife of a Microsoft executive.  She was a brilliant architect, but gave that up at the height of her career.  Life can be overwhelming for Bernadette.  Other moms at her daughter’s school cause her endless grief.  The city of Seattle has quirks that get under her skin.  When the family plans an adventure vacation to Antarctica, things get to be too much for Bernadette.  She vanishes without a trace.
The book is sometimes hilarious, sometimes emotional and ultimately a story of love.
