It's 2083, and the U.S. government has gone bankrupt. The only way to get a higher education is to be very rich or very lucky--you pay for school, or you win the lottery. Five lottery losers have been given a second chance at riches, by recreating Robert Scott's journey to the South Pole as part of the new reality TV craze, where the challenges are very real and very deadly. These 14-year-olds soon stop worrying about winning the prize money and start facing the reality of whether or not they'll survive.
