Review

There aren't many books that can make me weep, but this book earned a few tissues within the first few pages. It was also a finalist for the Pen-Faulkner Award. This is a well-executed and unusual portrayal of life on the Oregon Trail. Inspired by pages taken from the journal of one of Fisher's ancestors, this novel tells a sometimes brutal and unromantic account of life on the Trail.
