Review

Reyna has a lot to deal with. Her mom died seven years ago, and her dad has a new girlfriend. She's just started high school--at a different school than the rest of her friends. She's not sure where she fits in. Reyna doesn't really like Olive when she starts talking to her at lunchtime, but she eventually comes to like Olive's bravery and blunt honesty. When Olive confronts Reyna with some of her own secrets, Reyna gets scared, and she's soon forced to figure out what she believes in and whether she's willing to stand up for it. I didn't always like Reyna, but this was a good portrayal of confusion and choices that many teens are confronted with. Try it if you like realistic fiction about what friendship means.
