by Gary Greenberg
Because of the book's topic, for some reason, I expected it to read a little like social commentary and a bit of self-help, but much to my delight, this book by a psychotherapist reads like great science writing. He presents research tracing the creation of depression as pathology and exposes the ensuing fallout of that classification. His ideas and insights make you question your assumptions about disease and depression in particular. Despite the seriousness of Greenberg's research, this book is full of wit and humor as other reviewers have mentioned. An excellent read.
