Review

Hansel and Gretel is a universal tale that has been retold in various versions. This movie uses the back story of the two unfortunate children as a springboard for their adventures in adulthood.  The brother and sister are now witch hunters traveling across Europe. They arrive at a small town where children have been disappearing and the townspeople are increasingly restive. Getting to the source of the problem though is no easy feat and the pair need all their wits plus some help from unlikely allies to do so.  This move features stylish fight scenes, somewhat anachronistic weaponry and lots of violence.  It also has a slightly steampunkish aspect to it as well.  I went into it with low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised.
