This 3 CD collection, released by Folkways, collects performances that took place in New York City as a series of concerts from 1961-65. Organized by The Friends of Old Time Music, city audiences were introduced to some of the most influential artists in folk, blues and bluegrass at that time. Including tracks from such notables as Mississippi John Hurt, Dock Boggs, Bill Monroe, and the Stanley Brothers, this box set epitomizes the "Folk Arrival" that took place and would shape and inspire countless artists to come. This is a great place to start for those trying to understand this generation of musicians and their importance in American music.
