Today is Leonard Peacock's birthday, and he is planning on making it his last. He goes to school with his grandfather's pistol with plans to shoot his ex-best friend and then himself. He spends this day giving four gifts to some important people in his life that he wants to say goodbye to. There is his Humphrey Bogart obsessed elderly neighbor, his violin playing classmate, and his holocaust teacher - all of whom have had a huge impact on Leonard's life. As his day goes on you slowly learn Leonard's secrets and why he has decided he must end his life. - and by the end you will really think about how you treat other people, and who you should be thankful for. This is a very heartbreaking and intense read that is not for the faint of heart, but through all the sadness there are a few rays of light.
