Review

Every summer is very typical for Henry Harrison until the summer of 1908, when a group of Vaudeville performers vacation nearby. Henry is infatuated with their exciting lives and hilarious performances. He quickly makes friends with one of the star performers, Buster. Henry envies Buster’s exciting life and Buster envies Henry’s small town life. The story spans over a few summers.  The boy’s unlikely friendship is one of the highlights.
The book is part historical fiction and part coming of age story. The character of Buster is based on Buster Keaton, an actor and filmmaker best known for his silent films.  The last few pages of the book are biographical information about Buster Keaton, which I found really interesting.
