Elysia is a laboratory created clone modeled after a girl who died before Elysia was created. Purchased by a family to be a "companion clone", she begins her life on Demesne, an island that is the epitome of perfection. Only the most wealthy live on the island with their every need fulfilled by worker clones. The worker clones are engineered to be compliant but in reality, there seems to be hints of an uprising against the wealthy that are taking advantage of the clones. Though Elysia is supposed to be soulless and emotionless, she finds herself feeling more and more emotions. Maybe love? Maybe hate? This book ultimately leads to a surprising conclusion that even caught me off guard. Sprinkle in some extra romance and action and it was a great read!
