Searching in Journals

The Denver Public Library, like most libraries today, collects newspaper, magazine and journal articles in two different ways.

From our home page, roll over Research Resources, and click on Databases A-Z. Scroll through the list of databases. Besides newspaper and magazine databases, you will see encyclopedias, business information tools, car repair resources, homework databases for students of all ages, statistical resources, practice exams for GED, GRE, ASVAB, and many more!

To use these databases, we invite you to visit a Denver Public Library location OR to enter your Denver Public Library card number to log on from outside the library. If you are not a Denver resident, we invite you to visit a DPL location or check with your local library for the databases they provide.

You may search these databases in several ways:

  1. Several databases at once in Search for the Answer. Choose the Quick Search in the Library Recommended Resources for a subject of general interest, or choose from a topic listed lower down on the same page. When you don't know which database to use, this allows you to try searching anyway, and links you to results as each database responds to the same search.
  2. One database at a time, from the Databases A-Z list. You will need to enter your library card number each time you change to a different database. This is more challenging, but allows for more precise results.
  3. One database at a time, from the list located in the In-Depth Health Resources section. These databases are selected and recommended for a variety of health searching needs.

For more about finding Journal Articles please see our In-Depth Resources section.

Please Ask a Librarian for assistance.
