Colorado Author Series: Maria Sutton

Sutton, author of The Night Sky: A Journey from Dachau to Denver and Back takes us on a riveting journey through history and solves a WWII mystery. She was born in a Displaced Persons Camp in war-torn Germany. At age 13, she overheard a conversation that the man she had been calling "Dad" was not her biological father, Jozef. Jozef disappeared somewhere in Germany shortly after her birth. Her book is the culmination of her 43 year search to find him. Maria is a former highly trained Federal investigator who solves the impossible in this compelling and extraordinary memoir that is part history, part mystery, and always unflinchingly honest.
Colorado Authors Series: Dusty Saunders

Mr. Saunders worked at the Rocky Mountain News for 54 years as a copy boy, police reporter, city hall reporter, and feature editor and covered the broadcasting beat as critic and columnist for more than 40 years. In 1993, Saunders was named Colorado Journalist of the Year by the Society of Professional Journalists. A former president of the Denver Press Club, he's a member of club's Hall of Fame. He currently writes a Monday TV-radio sports column in The Denver Post. His most recent book is Heeere’s Dusty: Life in the TV and Newspaper World.
Colorado Author Series: Jack Ballard

Dr. Jack Ballard will discuss his book, Commander and Builder of Western Forts: The Life and Times of Major General Henry C. Merriam, with particular emphasis on General Merriam’s relationship with nearby Fort Logan. Merriam was the first real commander of Fort Logan and had the longest tenure as fort commander.
