KnitFlix: Deception (1946)
A relaxing get-together for knitters and other crafters, KnitFlix meets once a month in the Fresh City Lounge for an eclectic mix of classic and contemporary films. Guests may bring favorite beverages and nibbles, and have been known to comment on the film while it plays - KnitFlix is like going to a friend’s house to watch a film. Grab your knitting and let’s go to the movies
Directed by Irving Rapper. Starring Bette Davis, Paul Henreid and Claude Rains.
The last great collaboration between Warner Brothers and their temperamental star, this is Bette Davis at her most arch and mannered. She’s fascinating to watch in this film based on a stage play that centers on a post-WWII love triangle. Every close up in this film reminds the viewer of the song Bette Davis Eyes. Flaws and all, it is a superb Bette Davis vehicle.
