Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration: Mural--Pasado, Presente, Futuro
This celebration kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month and showcases local artist Carlota EspinoZa's mural, Pasado, Presente, Futuro. In 1975, the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation commissioned Ms. EspinoZa to create a mural for the Byers Branch Library. The mural depicts the story of Chicano people- a story of a people’s romance with history, from Aztec empires through Spanish imperialism and from alienation to the struggle to regain a people’s identity, pride and future. She recently restored the awe-inspiring 20-foot mural and it will be the centerpiece of the celebration at the Byers Branch Library kicking off National Hispanic Heritage Month. Flamenco guitarist Miguel Espinoza will provide entertainment. The event is free and open to the public.
Carlota EspinoZa continues to inspire the community with her art and has received recognition for painting murals, dioramas, portraits, easel paintings and sculptures in Colorado and many western states including Arizona, California, Oregon and Texas.
