ArtSkool: Modernism and Collage
This art form has an illustrious history. There are Chinese examples of collage technique dating to 200 A.D. In 10th century Japan it became a staple in the work of calligraphers. And Medieval European artists used it to great effect. The word 'collage' was attached to the technique during the period in which artists such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque and other modernists utilized it extensively. For our workshop, Emma Ginsberg, artist and collage/mixed media expert, will demonstrate all the right moves for collage success. You'll also explore the concepts of using 'found' materials in your artwork. Check out Emma's online gallery at www.emmaginsberg.com. Students are encouraged to bring a few meaningful objects (relatively flat, like buttons, medals or old jewelry) and photo reproductions. All other materials and supplies will be provided; $20 workshop fee. Registration is required and will open on Thursday, August 2. 720-865-1206 http://denverlibrary.org/fresh#artskool
