Totally in agreement with others regarding the inability to see where you are in the queue for holds or to cancel a hold. Also, if I want to renew several items, I can no longer check the items and renew all at once; I have to renew each item separately. I'm very frustrated that I can't seem to find the equivalent of the personal list option that allowed you to assemble items and then put all of them on hold with one entry of your library card number and name. Lastly, the new site is so-o-o-o slow.
Really seems like the search capabilities are improved.
I do not like that clicking on the "My Account" button at the top of the page opens a new browser window, if I wanted to open it in a new window I could right click and select to open in a new window or tab. That button is also the easiest way to return to a user account summary after a search, so I definitly do not want a new browser every time I would like to return to "My Account."
Also, it seems that you can no longer see your position on the waiting list for items you have requested. Additionally, I cannot see how to freeze or cancel holds any longer.
Still get "error on page" message after I log onto my account and then try to choose one of the drop-down options. Java Script error?
New site is too full of clutter.
I appreciate that you are attempting to improve and update your website, however I am disappointed that you choose to add additional visual clutter to the page and that you allowed the overall performance (loading time and page submit time) to suffer so significantly. To say the rotating images are distracting and annoying is an understatement. As your completely unnecessary video explained (wouldn't a paragraph have been sufficient and quicker to read?) you have added simple navigation, what is the point when you web pages take 30% longer to load? When trying to renew the books I already have on hold the pop-up is really too small. It is hard to read and then it disappears before I have had a chance to read the entire list of my renewals and the due dates. I should really be able to close the window when I am ready. Once I place a hold It would be nice to get an indication when in the holds queue I can estimate what I have time to read before receiving my hold, now I have no idea. After taking 20 minutes to do what normally takes 5 even with a new learning curve, I want to use the website less often and go in to my branch to do these day to day transactions, perhaps that is your intention.
While I also agree with the other posts concerning not being able to see where you are in the holds queue, I DO LOVE the new feature of not having to type in your name/card number for each new hold within the same session! And that the pickup location is now only one click - it remembers where you like to pickup your holds (but you have the option to change location with each hold if you like!)!
Thanks for the updates!
I agree with the other posts that I really miss seeing where I am in the holds queue. I also don't like that if I click renew and the item is (I assume?) non-renewable, there is no message indicating that it didn't renew.
I like being able to quickly find library hours and I also am getting used to the knew search feature.
Very concerned that I can't see where I'm at on the holds list or how many holdable copies are available. This has been crucial in managing my holds and planning what I check out.
Three more points about "My Account:"
1. We shouldn't have to wait so long for "My Account" to get the log-in pop-up.
When I get to the DPL's main page, I click on "My Account" so I can log in. Instead, I'm taken to a search page, and after several seconds, the pop-up appears. If I want to go to my account, then I don't want to go anywhere else. It's an unnecessary step to have the search page appear.
2. I appreciated that once I typed my account information (card # and last name) into the data fields of the old log-in page, they appeared in a pseudo-drop-down menu. I could highlight the account information I wanted to put in, and hit enter. I didn't have to retype the entire # each time. I understand concerns of security, though, but I would appreciate some more convenience.
3. "My Account" has so much more information available; why not ILL requests and Prospector requests, too? Again, it's an issue of convenience. Staff at DPL told me that the Prospector and ILL systems were separate from circulation and everything else from the old account information. However, if you're going to redo "My Account" to make it easier or whatever, adding these features would be great and, in to me, a no-brainer as far as making things easier is concerned.
Thank you!
This has been a nightmare for me, and I still can't figure out how to do a simple search. I was very happy with the old site and could simply and quickly find what I want. Now everything is slow, and I can't search for a dvd movie title. Going to Movies home doesn't have search delineated (the Search box searches the whole catalog when I enter a title!). How do I search just dvds for a movie title????
