Celebrate National Native American Heritage Month by enjoying one of the many great films about the Native American experience. For far too long Native Americans were portrayed as the "bad guys" of Western films, I am thankful that Hollywood has adopted a more sympathetic attitude toward these heroic peoples.

Sherman Alexie is a prolific author who has written many stories and novels based on some of his own experiences and has had a few made into films, including  The Business of Fancydancing and Smoke Signals.
