Brown Bag Mysteries – Storytime for AdultsBrown Bag Mysteries – Storytime for Adults
30-minute Mysteries, Capers and Thrilling Stories
Presented by Whole Foods Market

Tuesdays, June 3-July 22, noon (story starts at 12:15 p.m.)
Central Library, Level 7 Vida Ellison Gallery

Grab some grub at Civic Center Eats or bring your own brown bag from home; then join us for lunch and an adult storytime on Tuesdays at the Central Library. Each week, we’ll read some of the greatest short stories, old and new – you’ll hear stories of suspense, thrills and dark humor. Reading will begin at 12:15 p.m. and will last approximately 30 minutes, so you’ll have time to enjoy your lunch and our story, and get back to work before the boss even knows you’re gone!  And our sponsor, Whole Foods Market, will provide a variety of sweet finishes for each storytime. What’s for dessert? That’s a mystery that you’ll have to solve by attending!

Schedule:

July 15: The Blue Geranium by Agatha Christie, read by Evi Klett

July 22: The Adventure of Abraham Lincoln's Clue by Ellery Queen, read by A. J. Abraham

Brown Bag Mysteries is currently scheduled through July 22 and may be extended. Please check back to view extended dates for this series. Call 720-865-1206 for more information.

There hasn’t been a British television show like Downton Abbey since the 1970s series Upstairs, Downstairs. Both are similar in their depiction of the chasm between the ruling class and the servant class. And both inspired contemporary fashion trends. Our Downton workshop focuses on a stunning cloche hat with a low brim that distinctively frames the face. Along with this accessory, students will create a neck shawl that can be worn as an adornment or as a soft, warm scarf in cooler weather. Both are timeless pieces for autumn dressing. No beginning students please. Knitters should have basic knitting skills for this workshop; prerequisites are casting on, binding off, knit stitch, purl stitch, inc and dec. Materials list will be provided with registration confirmation. Please register online or call 720-865-1206.
