The real monster in Frankenstein is not "the creature" but instead Dr. Frankenstein himself. Mad scientists and evil geniuses permeate horror films and though they may be set on world domination or defying the laws of nature, they illustrate our relationship to science by crossing the line.

If you refer to your garage as your laboratory, or long for the days of science fair projects to explain how you blew off your eyebrows, you may be a mad scientist! Whether you are a gadget geek, a chemistry champion or an experiment egghead, the library has something to inspire, explain and delight. (Just please remember, reanimating the dead has never gone well.)
