Graffiti Art Project Unveiling
Did you know that the Athmar Park Branch Library also received help from Your Name in Graffiti? Coupled with a grant from the Urban Arts Fund, the children and teens of the neighborhood created a graffiti art mural that features drawings based on the theme "Knowledge is Power." The Pauline Robinson Branch Library also received a grant from the Urban Arts Fund and created a beautiful sculpture from discarded books!
In celebration of these artists' achievements and their creativity, I have compiled a list of documentaries on this exciting and evolving art form.
- Write and Unite features the world's greatest graffiti artists in action!
- Style Wars delves into the controversies surrounding controversial New York City graffiti artists.
- Bomb It is packed with contemporary music and explores the many manifestations of "bombing" - the slang term for creating graffiti.
- Graffiti Verite, Gv2 and Gv3, the sequels, explore the Los Angeles graffiti scene, watching it evolve from vandalism to art.
- Piece by Piece: The History of San Francisco Graffiti, Documented was one of the first documentaries to explore this art form.
- RackGaki: Japanese Graffiti explores fraffiti as an art form the world over.
